Following a holistic approach to empowerment, Children in Distress provides educational support to children at its nine Family Care Centres in greater White River, Mpumalanga.
Our nine Family Care Centres provide the base from which we make the following available:
- Computer skills classes
- Life skills classes
- Growing vegetables training
- Soccer competitions
- Libraries
- Arts & crafts classes
- Choir competitions
- Maths Tutoring
Computer Training
At present, around 500 children attend our computer skills classes every month.
The project aims to improve:
- Computer literacy
- Math skills
- English language skills (reading, writing)
- Auditory and visual discrimination and short term memory
- Lengthening concentration span
